Association SOS Helpline for women and children - victims of violence is a women's non-government organization with feminist approach, which was established in 1989 in order to prevent violence to women and children. It is organized as an association with the official name Društvo SOS telefon. Its head office is in Ljubljana, but it is active in the entire country. We are an organization whose aim is to help, support and counsel women and children who have experienced or still experience violence in their families and relationships.
Our areas of activity are:
- a help line for women and children victims of violence;
- a refuge for women and children victims of violence;
- self-help groups for women;
- an individual counselling for women.
Within the program we also organize:
a training for interested women volunteers (twice a year with 52-hour basic training and 100-hours advanced training);
- a training for experts that come across problems related to violence to women and children;
- meetings and discussions concerning violence;
- media campaigns designed to make the general public aware of the problem of violence and
to inform it about its consequences.
